Convergence with a North Wind

Directional convergence can also occur with offshore wind. In this case, wind from the north or north-northeast converges with wind from an east-northeast direction over the lake. Higher elevations on both sides of Lake Superior tend to force the wind into the east-northeast direction. If wind veers with height, turning to come from the east or southeast, snow can be blown inland over Duluth.
